King John calls on alumni for new legacy artwork

Alan Mechem, Head of Marketing and Communication for Zenith Multi Academy Trust, put a call out on social media for alumni of The King John School to submit photos for new large displays across the school.

‘I was in complete awe at the amount of people that responded to our call to arms. It’s great to see our alumni take such pride in their education… and be willing to take time out of their day to upload and share their memories with us! I’d like to thank everybody that did and hope that, when restrictions allow, we can let the community into the school to share our celebration of the rich history of King John.’ – Alan Mechem.

‘The new displays have brought areas of the school to life. We’ve had some great feedback from students who think some of the older photos are magnificent! The history of King John is now on display for all to see around the school and we couldn’t be more proud.’ – Dr Margaret Wilson CBE.

‘I knew that the school had a rich history when I joined as Headteacher at the start of the year, but these images really blew me away. There are images from the Queen Mother’s visit in 1953 through to our dealings with the pandemic- but the most impactful ones are the images from the student perspective throughout the years. It has shown to me how passionate the local community is about The King John School and this is certainly reflected with our latest cohort! Thank you to everyone that submitted an image!’ – Dan Steel.
